Create a Bucket

Prerequisites

Before creating a bucket, ensure that:

Procedure

  1. From the main menu, choose Data Management. Click Data Browser from the side menu and select an account from the top drop-down list in the breadcrumb.

  2. Click Create Bucket to open the Create a New Bucket page.

  3. Fill in the respective fields depending on the type of bucket you want to create: with or without object-lock.

    Fill in the following fields:

    • Bucket Name: Enter a unique name for the bucket. The name must conform to AWS naming conventions.

      Tip

      For more information, refer to Bucket naming rules.

    • Storage Service Location: Select the storage location for the bucket.

      Note

      If you cannot select the correct storage location, stop. Make sure that you have selected the correct account, then follow the instructions for Add a Storage Location to set up the correct location before you continue.

    • Versioning: Check the box to activate versioning on the bucket.

      You can edit the versioning feature later on. Refer to View and Edit Bucket Information for more information.

      Tip

    Fill in the following fields:

    • Bucket Name: Enter a unique name for the bucket. The name must conform to AWS naming conventions.

    • Storage Service Location: Select the storage location for the bucket.

      Note

      If you cannot select the correct storage location, stop. Make sure that you have selected the correct account, then follow the instructions for Add a Storage Location to set up the correct location before you continue.

    • Versioning: Automatically checked and enabled.

    • Object-lock: Check the box to enable object-lock on the bucket.

    • Default Retention: Check the box to activate the default retention on the bucket.

    • Retention mode: Select the retention mode you want Governance or Compliance.

    • Retention period: Enter the retention period in days.

  4. Click Create to finish the bucket creation.

The new bucket appears in the list.
