Change DNS Server Configuration

Prerequisites

Reconfiguring the network settings for ARTESCA requires:

  • A functioning ARTESCA installation

  • Platform administrator privileges

Procedure

The following procedure describes how to change the ARTESCA DNS server.

  1. Edit the DNS server IPs on each node.

    1. Find the name of the bond connection you want to edit. (It is the first column of the command’s output)

      [artesca-os@bootstrap ~]$

sudo nmcli con | grep bond

      bond-artesca 5fb06bd0-0bb0-7ffb-45f1-d6edd65f3e03 bond bond-artesca

    2. Set the new DNS server IPs using the nmcli command.

      [artesca-os@bootstrap ~]$

      sudo nmcli con mod <connection> ipv4.dns "<dns_ips>" ipv4.dns-search ""

Where dns_ips is a list of space-separated DNS Server IPs and connection is the name of the NetworkManager connection relative to the bonding interface you want to configure. These command also remove all search domains to avoid DNS issues.

      Important

To avoid DNS issues, do not set any Search domains, and have at least one and a maximum of two DNS server IPs configured.

  2. Restart the network manager.

    [artesca-os@bootstrap ~]$

    sudo systemctl restart NetworkManager

  3. Restart the core DNS.

    [artesca-os@bootstrap ~]$

sudo kubectl --kubeconfig=/etc/kubernetes/admin.conf rollout restart -n kube-system deploy coredns
