Veeam Overview Metrics

The Veeam overview metrics provide immediate visibility into the Veeam backup infrastructure and activity without requiring you to log in to the VBR interface. ARTESCA retrieves these metrics from the VBR application using the Veeam REST API.

Access the Veeam Metrics

The metrics are available on the Overview page of the ARTESCA+ Veeam UI.

Access the Veeam Interfaces

You can open the Veeam interfaces directly in a new browser tab from the Overview page of the ARTESCA UI.

To do so, you must have:

Open Veeam Console

The Open Veeam Console button opens the Veeam Backup & Replication web console in a new browser tab. From this console, you manage backup and replication jobs, run restores, and configure data retention and immutability on your ARTESCA repositories.

Open Veeam Host Management

The Open Veeam Host Management button opens the host-management web interface in a new browser tab, used to administer the underlying Veeam Software Appliance.

Monitoring Components

VBR Activity

The VBR Activity metrics display the number of backup jobs currently running on the VBR application.

Backup Jobs

The Backup Jobs chart shows the most recent status (success, warning, failed) recorded each day for each job over the last 7 days.

Backup jobs are automated tasks that copy and store your data to a backup location on a defined schedule. These jobs are managed by Veeam and store your data in ARTESCA’s object storage.

Metrics

Description

Success

The backup job completed without errors.

Warning

The backup job completed but encountered non-critical issues.

Failed

The backup job did not complete successfully.

Backup Overview

The Backup overview metrics provide insights into the overall state of your backup infrastructure managed by the VBR application.

Metrics

Description

Backed-up objects

Total number of virtual infrastructure objects included in backups sourced from VBR applications.

This count is not deduplicated. A single object can appear multiple times if protected by multiple separate backup jobs.

Protected data (original size)

Total original volume of data from all protected workloads across all platforms.

This metric is measured before any data reduction techniques (deduplication or compression) are applied.

Stored backups (all repositories usage)

Total storage space consumed by all backup files across all repositories configured within the VBR application.

This value represents the actual size of the backup files after data reduction techniques (deduplication and compression) have been applied.
