Make ARTESCA S3 Endpoint Accessible from Outside

By default, in an primary repository architecture, the ARTESCA S3 endpoint is not accessible from outside the ARTESCA+ Veeam Unified Software Appliance. This ensures that the S3 endpoint is only used by the local Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) proxy and not exposed to external networks.

When you deploy the Veeam VBR Proxy externally, or use the ARTESCA+ Veeam Unified Software Appliance as a secondary backup target and Veeam DR site, you can configure the S3 endpoint to listen on a physical interface and be accessible via a specific domain. This ensures proper connectivity and data transfer.

Run the following command to make the ARTESCA S3 endpoint accessible from outside the appliance:

[artesca-os@bootstrap ~]$
sudo ./artesca-installer configure-frontend data domain

You will be asked to provide the subnet on which the data plane should be exposed, and a domain name to build the S3 endpoint URL.

Once the command is executed, a new endpoint will be available in the UI. You must create a DNS record for this endpoint so that the VBR Proxy or primary Veeam client can resolve it to the appliance’s IP address.
