Nodes Are Not Responding

Problem Description

The nodes are up and running, but they are not responding to the requests.

The upgrade prechecks are failing due to the non-responding nodes with the following error message:

Running upgrade pre-checks
Error: Failure while running upgrade pre-checks: Nodes <NODE_LIST> are unreachable

Root Cause

This problem can be caused by the salt-minion service not running on the nodes.

Problem Resolution

You need to restart the salt-minion service on all the non-responding nodes.

1. Log in to the non-responding node using SSH.

2. Restart the salt-minion service.

   [artesca-os@<NODE_NAME> ~]$
   

   sudo systemctl restart salt-minion
   

   Note

   Replace <NODE_NAME> with the name of one of the non-responding nodes.

3. Check that the salt-minion service is running.

   [artesca-os@<NODE_NAME> ~]$
   

   sudo systemctl status salt-minion
   

4. Repeat the steps for all non-responding nodes.

5. Run the upgrade prechecks again to ensure that the nodes are responding.
